Kia EV6 novated lease and the FBT cliff
for the dearer variants

The Air is under $75,000 and keeps the full exemption until 31 March 2029 under the draft. The GT-Line RWD and GT-Line AWD sit between $75,000 and $91,661: full exemption only if you commit by 31 March 2027, then a 25% discount. The GT is over the $91,661 luxury car tax limit and gets no FBT concession at all.
What to know about the Kia EV6
The EV6 is the clearest example on this site of one model spread across all three bands. The Air, at $72,660 before on-road costs, sits a couple of thousand dollars below $75,000; the GT-Line RWD at $79,660 and the GT-Line AWD at $87,660 sit between the lines; and the high-performance GT at $99,660 is over the $91,661 limit with no concession at all.
The Air needs the most care. With Kia's dealer delivery and any option added, its value can cross $75,000, which would turn it from a 2029 car into a 2027 one, so get the itemised price before you rely on its band. Kia quotes 582 km for the Air's 84 kWh battery, more than either GT-Line, which makes the cheapest EV6 the longest-legged. It sells in small numbers next to the EV5 and EV3, but it is the Kia where the signing date matters most.

Estimate only. General information, not tax advice. It uses 2026–27 tax rates and the FBT statutory formula, and assumes you pay an after-tax contribution to clear any FBT. The rules for commitments from 1 April 2027 are a Treasury exposure draft, not law, and may change. Confirm your numbers with your employer, your novated lease provider or a registered tax agent.
